Does e-teaching restrict itself to the subject being taught?

I teach English and Management subjects online. But, often I end up teaching the basics of IT (Harware and Software issues) to new students. As is obvious, these newbies are complete opposite of being tech-savvy.
Have you ever come across a candidate having zero know-how about even opening an e-mail account? I have and I still get them. No, they are not some out of the civilized world species! They live around us. The tough part is to equip them with the right methods to log in (if they understand) and to get them learning.
I have tried to reason out the merits of online teaching with them. One common statement I make is "You as a student don't even have to touch the keyboard. Just listen to what the teacher speaks and shows on the whiteboad."
Do you as a teacher face the same issues?
What do you do? Leave such learners aside? Do you teach them the Basics of computing? I know, most of you would advise me to stay away from this category. But, why should they be left behind? They might be too happy with the whole tech thing that they'll start recommending us to everyone!
My point here is to accumulate a database of PPTs, Youtube files or recorded classes which can be used by all of us to spread awareness about this online media. Do you have these links? I personally plan to start framing these. It would be great if we all plan out something together.
Waiting for your comments...

Namrata,

Your initiative indicates that you are a caring teacher who has her learner in mind at all times. Every learner should receive what he or she needs. It's up to the teacher to find ways of catering to all those who come to learn. I think team building may help. Teachers can set up teams of students who are able to connect as a group and share what they know. I do this in the computer lab at my school and online. The buddy system is one way of doing it.

Right Kapil,
I forget the quote "Patience is the key to success". Thanks for spelling it out here.

Dr. Nellie,
You are my guardian angel!
I liked your idea and I am going to work on it. Earlier, I was teaming up with teachers. It never came to mind that I could bring my students together. Thanks a ton for suggesting it to me.

Kamala, I agree. There are experts ready to spread awareness and motivate others.

e-teachers, the Internet is a global village, where we all have to work in collaboration to achieve our common goal.
Let's start pooling these useful resources.

Namrata-

I think, the way online learning would evolve after 2 or 3 years from now would be quite different to what you and I are seeing. I feel for online learning to be successful it has to stop competing with real life learning and concentrate more on real life problems engulfing the spread of education. I feel we still need to drive a lot of simplification around "how education could be rolled down to the last atom of our world population". Future would weld both technology and interface, frankly we all talk about interface without knowing what it means in real life.

turning back to your question, Yes students are naive however lets give technologist few more ruthless years before they make signing in more easier. :-)
