A Simplified ESL Model

Description
A Simplified ESL Model (by RetSam)

Thanks to George Machlan and Arkady Zilberman's sharings.

Hopefully these simple models can help us understand better what's going on inside us when we are practising English in different ways.

By comparing them, we can easily see that most of ESL learners have been building some unnecessary connections, for example the connection between an English word and it's chinese meaning. And we have missed some important connections, like the connection between an abstract image and an English word.

And we can see how the first language system and the translation process prevent us from talking fluently.

So,to improve our English efficiency,we can simply chose the practices that will help us build the 'missed connections' of the 'speedway'.

Hi Sam,

You are a visionary with a very creative mind. That is not always a good thing but, I think it is at least unique and fresh. Do you remember how hard it was for us to see anything in the scribble during your class?

I think you will need to present your model in a class for me and others to fully grasp. I will wait to agree/disagree with your ideas till then.

Thanks for sharing and especially for listening.

PS Remember rule #2 when dealing with George:
Never assume that George knows what he is talking about. As often as not I am verbalizing an idea to see if it takes flight, not because it has worth or value.

Thanks for feedback george.

Yes, I would like to work on it more and give a presentation for the Models.

I tend to simplify things and make them visual to help others understand.

In my opinion, being an teacher is not about being totally right all the time, is more about being inspiring and creative, which will lead the students to create more on their own.
