Education Structure at india VS Advantages in Virtual Class (WiziQ).

by RUKU ANKUR CHAKRABORTY

Today In the fastest world of cyber world and to compete with person to person teaching , WIZIQ (e-teching) is a very advantage to those persons in India and the rest of the world who had heard that Virtual Class room leraing and have seen how it is different from personal learning . The advantages of wiziq is that it a coridoor through which u have to enter at the world of e-learning.But ,I have seen that (I may be wrong) many people are still now not even awere at Virtual Classroom at India (almost all the states) .The main problem is that the lack of awareness of people in India about cyber world espicially parents .This is because when the media flashes something "Phishing is going on ,beaware " or "Please don't open blue tooth " many of us think that traditional teaching is good and will be good in future compared to online teaching. I know many of my frinds who still are not properly educated and wants to leran some courses but they all are afraid of online teaching due to MASS AWARNESS. Some one had asked me that -"I don't know why people don't invest money at education ?" . The reason of this is economical infrastucture at india. let me explain - If I get salary of minimum 5,000 and I invest a huge part at our health , due to differt types of medical tests ,doctor fees etc including medicine then a part of 1000-2000 rupees comes at my hand at the end of the month until or umless I get next salary .And at the same time I can't invest much money at education though I palnned that I will invest a certain amount @ education.Even if many of us don't know pay pal. Almost all the people believe at DD/ CHQ payment mode.

Yes Ruku, online learning has some clear benefits, which traditional education cannot deliver. Ignorance is bliss for many and ignorance is convenience for a lot. A big chunk of educators do not want to explore beyond their comfort zones and end up never knowing about great tools that they could use to make their teaching more meaningful. It's true that millions of teachers still are unaware of the benefits of online learning and are comfortable with traditional teaching methods. Some, as you pointed out, are simply afraid to come online.

But there are some serious education service providers who now understand the benefits. See how Apt Academic Solutions have found success with online teaching using WiZiQ and extended their reach in India.

People are becoming aware but there is a long way to go. And yes, it's not easy for people to spend on education ( transport to reach) with limited income and big expenses. So online learning is definitely a viable option. WiZiQ, for example, has hundreds of free Online Classes and thousands of recorded ones in addition to free Tests and Tutorials. All that is required is ready access to a computer and an affordable Internet connection.

Hi Ruku,
I really appreciate your acknowledgement of the need to create awareness about online teaching.

Please check a discussion I started on this community
Spreading Awareness

I agree Ruku. I am a high school student and i know that no-one in my 200 member class uses online education for learning . The people need to be made aware of this. It would help if a major educational group organised a few presentations in schools or some sort of seminar to promote this !
After my exams i will also try to get many more people from my school join up wiziq !! Hope they love it !

One major problem to attract people to E-learning is the high cost of the course .As far as academic studies are concerned for various exams like IITJEE, or AIEEE etc there are just too many coching centres which are more affordable and at times are better . I mean they give you personal attention and the costs can range somewhere between 10,000-15,000 Rupees a year which is so much cheaper compared to even a 5$ session which equals about 250 Rupees in Indian currency. So unless you want to target just the elite Indian society free classes can't be done away for the moment . Once the students start liking the concept of online teaching they'll surely be ready to pay for them .
Moreover more people will come to sites if they find something unique is being offered to them . I mean I personally joined the site to learn various languages. It's more interesting here than just learning lots of vocabs from other sites. Moreover there need to be specialized plans if we want to target the Average Indian audience . I mean they need to feel they are getting their pennies worth and that this is so much better than average classroom teaching. Till the time we realize that goal I don't think much can be done .

George,

As a market guru, are you interested in marketing my testing? If so, please send me an email to babceo@sbcglobal.net

Hi,
I am a test developer and would be interested in chatting about the need and use of tests as part of English education. I was trained to do listening and speaking tests by the University of Oxford after taking MA level courses at San Jose State University. After completing some of the training I became a business partner of the University of Oxford in 1994.

I am a native speaker of American English.

There must be some sure short ways to reach the aspiring students. The people or pupil who are experienced with the e-learning modalities are quite few. So we find it a little hard to win some clients. Now could you please suggest some ways to overcome this bottleneck. How, if we conduct some free online sessions to some conventional education institutions. There's a subject now taught in the centres of higher learning called tech-pedagogy. Is it possible for you to give me some in-depth details about this subject. Please visit some of my blogs like www.musictreatments.blogspot.com or www.devakiammacollege.blogspot.com Please give me some working solutions to the problems faced by most of the e-teachers like me.

Dear George Machalan,

It was a reply really good and I am interested in everything you said. I liked the mail very much. Lemme tell you frankly most of the things you mentioned in the reply went over my head, I need some clarifications further. The imagery-the motorcycle biker Jesus-needs to be further elucidated. What do you mean by people with bio pics. Do you find the bio pics in me interesting? I promise you I will make some recordings available in my biopage. Please watch some of my programmes in www.youtube.com/babuappat, www.youtube.com/TheTrainingclasses and please do visit my blogs www.devakiammacollege.blogpot.com www.musictreatments.com www.kladeo.blogspot.com www.ignoluhours.blogspot.com Please send me some more suggestions to improve the work.

Great Ruku. India needs more students like you. Please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE_3hMbMxEc and watch another student like you.

They are all eLearners, earns while they learn, and spread awareness of online goodies at Web 2.0. They use wiziq and skype

Wow Sebastian, you ROCK!
1st get a picture of yourself smiling for your bio pic. I have now seen you smile (in another of your videos) and it looks like another person altogether.
2cd give a class and presentation on your school and model, you are a pearl that has been hidden from me at WIZIQ
3rd blog more in our communities... you are practicing and proving what I am only able to imagine

Here is the video he referred Ruku to (above)

Great job at expressing yourself in English Ruku (and Rads). I am proud to call you my friends as most will not try expressing themselves in these communities. I would challenge your paradigm slightly, though.

In marketing and advertising there is a term called "WOM" (word of mouth). All parties that teach these subjects agree that WOM is the best and most desirable model. The question becomes how to get it started and how to accelerate it. If one has a lot of money one could do many things. But, even without money, WOM can be achieved and maintained. It seems hard but it is the most natural system once one practices it.

One simply shares something with another. Each trial, if evaluated, makes the next iteration a little better. It can also target better than any system out there. You will quickly find that you can listen and watch for reactions that indicate when you are getting their attention. It sounds slow, but once it begins to grow it is not dependent on your efforts or a large advertising budget. People will do the work for you.

I have no money, nor rich friends. I have the ability to share. I will continue with this mantra, "Sharing and caring" if I don't succeed, it will be OK. If I do, I will know that it is because I have learned how to help and encourage others. I will never assume that money can build my ideas because I didn't have any to make it happen with.

PS don't forget to hit the "spell checker" when posting anywhere. Some people discount your arguement if there are too many mispelled words ;-)

On your Bio-page the picture you set for all to see is what I call the bio-pic. Artistic presentations of the Christian "Jesus" are often shown as a common man with long hair and beard.

You are welcome to join any class that I conduct. I am not a marketing guru. I was making observations of your existing materials. I suggest you find someone who knows and has shown an expertise in marketing.

Here are two go articles to get you started:

Dear Babu,
You may not like the answer but I would honor your request with a few observations.

1. There are no short cuts. With no large institution (e.g. university) association you must build a reputation from the ground up. There are some Internet companies which can be paid to create a lot of interest but the long term affects of that kind of forced growth is questionable for professionals.

2. Wiziq, in my opinion, is doing all of the correct steps to create a conducive environment to grow such a learning portal but this will take time. Even if you came back in say 2 years, you would need to develop some track record and expertise in the dynamics of online teaching. The biggest mistake I see is teachers assuming they can simply transfer whatever they are doing in the real world to online. More often than not this is a formula for failure.

3. There is a value in academia's pursuit of finding the elusive solution for online teaching but I am suspicious of the ability of such an arcane institution to find it's way into this new world (think "Avatar" the movie), by and large, they just don't get it.

4. I visited your bio page blog link, and the two you just referred to. That is a great start but, brother a total of five (?) articles does not a reputation make, nor enough for someone to evaluate your current efforts. It WILL take time to develop your style and expertise in these online communication worlds. Stick to it and try stuff.

5. I personally am endeared to people with interesting bio pics. Yours looks like Jesus as a motorcycle biker. I think that is cool but, does it really send the message you want people to first have of you?

6. As you refer to yourself as an e-teacher, I (and prospective students)would love to see and perhaps learn from your style. Alas the one class shown on your bio is not available for viewing. As a minimum, I would suggest a few classes for all to review your valuable content or e-teaching dynamic.

Finally please read elsewhere in this community as there is a lot of discussion covering the areas you are asking about.

Bottom line. We need you as much as you think you need us in this WIZIQ community. If time and circumstances dictate that you must find a quick source of students, you may need to look elsewhere and that is 100% OK. But, please come back at a future date when we may be able to offer a pool of students and we can also be blessed by your unique voice.

Just my opinion, man.
God's speed to you and yours,
George

As this is the most recent posting for advice on how to achieve success with teaching online, I will post a great article that our friend Kirsten Winkler tweeted. I do not agree 100% with this guy's advice but he has stated the hard learned rules better than any other I have seen.

I don't disagree with u . But I feel that Mass Awareness for Cyber World is necessory and similary when the Awarness will come then expansion will be very easy and adding one point also that earning is also necessory from this platform ." Thinking and implementing " is very different .

I agree with you Ruku. This case is prevailing especially in regions like India where a great deal of difference is there between the educated and less educated communities. Parents and the learners need to know about the advantages of elearning like getting more attention from the teacher, freedom of clearing all the doubts by the student, time management by avoiding the travel to the tuition spot, safer for children since they can remain in their houses for getting tuition, getting exposure to the world and so on. Let's try together and make it a revolution.

First of all let me extend my appreciation to Rukku for his honest opinion sited above.I believe that flourishing right knowledge to mankind is the best service done by teachers. For that, any method, suitable can be adopted. But after getting introduced to online teaching, I rate it the best technology that modern world has ever seen, and Iam sure it would help a lot to the upcoming generations.

I believe that FREE classes should be limited to 'demos'. I think there is a big danger of a service like this generating a presence where students think they can come for free. As a result, it can make it impossible to leap from offering free courses into charging for courses. The challenge can worsen as increasing numbers of new teachers join the service and offer, course after course, for FREE hoping to genearate business. Eventually, there will be a huge repetoire of courses available for free and it will undermine the ability of teachers to ever make money doing distance education....unless they affiliate with a great established school.

It reminds me a lot of my experience with Toastmasters. Thousands of people enroll in Toastmasters and aspire to become paid speakers. Everyone will tell them that the avenue to paid gigs is through doing a lot of free gigs. I have seen it hundreds of times....the paid gigs never come. The public speaker wannabee remains a wannabee and at some point has to stop wasting time, or continue doing it just for the love of doing it.

As for copyright ownership. The ownership has to be the property of the writer....and the writer has to have the rights to sell it anywhere. It is like writing a book. You would not write a book and only let one bookstore sell it. Nor, would you let the bookstore overtake your copyright.
