Could crowd sourcing be the wave of the future?

This is not a prediction but one of the ways to create a future of our own choice which could unlock the potential of a billion people inhabiting the planet. It is a beautiful way to engage talent beyond the confines of their own offices. The power of flat world full of opportunities is invigorating.

Crowd-sourcing scuds down the walls of the offices and problems are thrown open to the world so the solution that tosses is the best. Like any other tool it has its share of disadvantages which has till now resisted major big corporations to come out openly in its support. Except for few who have managed it well. Does this wave has the power and guts to redefine the process of creativity? If yes, how?

Yes it does, it almost cost me my job (OK, I tend to the dramatic, or so I'm told, but I am laying low for a while). I think we are talking about the same thing but I am not sure of what I am talking about yet so maybe we should run a class/discussion sometime. Here is the slide series I used for a presentation of an "Open WEB 2.0 community model for business" crowd/cloud/sourcing/herd thingy that I pitched which was taken quite negatively by the people who count, my boss!

PS It (whatever it is that we are talking about)may be the same as what I am trying to do with the Project Management for ESL class series. No one owns the class. Everyone, who wishes to, takes on part of the work of the classes. If this collaborative class takes wings it could be a cool cloud/crowd/herd thingy ;-)
