Problems with my audio.... :(

I'm not sure if this is the correct spot to post this but I'm guessing you're the best people to answer me, so here goes:

Today I attended a class and had difficulty with my audio. I have a headset and had set the sound to come through the headset. Unfortunately, it continued to come through my speakers, causing echo for everyone when I had my mic on. Interestingly, when the presenter turned on a YouTube video (or similar - something with sound anyway - could have been an MP3 file...), I then got the sound through the headset. All other times, it came through the speakers. I have tried changing the controls on my own control panel, to no avail.

I then conducted some training later in the day and the same thing happened, so I had to turn my speakers off altogether and only allowed chat, rather than having participants talk to me. Can anyone give me any tips?

My device settings are set to Logitech Headset. My control panel settings are also set to the headset. Something in WizIQ is overriding those settings....

Thanks in advance!

Jane, I find that if I stand on my left foot (right foot in Southern Hemisphere) with some tin foil (not aluminum) on my head it helps. Honest! I wouldn't fool you.

Also I sometimes chant the following mantra while focusing on a star, " I wish I may, I wish I might, have some luck on WizIQ tonight!

Let me know how it works in Australia. I have no data to prove my techniques ;-)

George, the village idiot.

PS Both of the above should also work, but it will not be as much fun.

Jane while in the class use the device setting option to access settings for "Speakers" (third option). Here select the appropriate speaker device to get the output through your headset.

Also if you are using Windows Vista/7 then make sure you have set the headsets as default playback device.

Hi Sid - I had actually changed those settings, so I'm not sure why it didn't work. I had tried to get rid of all reference to the speakers, both in WizIQ and on the Control Settings, so I think the only option that might work is George's idea. Cutting tin foil as we speak.

Another thing to try if you haven't is plug the cord from your headphones where the cord for the speakers would go in the computer. Then you can set it to speakers on the computer instead of headphones.

When you are using WiZiQ, it is better to not use speakers at all because it creates a loop (the echo) through your mic. Headphones prevent this.
